When B checked herself into the hospital on Mother’s Day for partial vision loss, she did not expect to hear the devastating news that she had a large tumour in her brain.

Update: Having finally been diagnosed with CNS Neuroblastoma, an aggressive, malignant, extremely rare form of Brain Cancer, B has undergone 2 craniotomies, radiation, and is starting chemotherapy in September.

And yet, in the face of all this, B is doing everything she can to stay grounded in the things that bring her joy, connection, and purpose. But the road ahead is unknown, and time feels both precious and unpredictable.

Unable to qualify for EI, she hopes to use this money to support herself while she’s unable to work, including covering daily expenses and bills. But more than just surviving, B wants to keep creating. She’s an artist at heart, and music, writing, and visual arts are just some of the things that bring her real peace and self-expression during this time.
