For those of you who know Bryson Shafer, he’s not one to ask for help. I assume the majority of friends reading this may not even know about his little ‘accident’. You probably just assumed the awkward patches shaved into his head were his idea of a fashion statement.
Two months ago Bryson suffered a Cerebral Edema and Brain Hemorrhage in a wakeboarding accident. In classic Bryson form, he shrugged it off and kept riding. Nearly two days later Bryson had a seizure between bartending shifts at one of his many positions. Two more seizures followed that night, after which he drove himself to the hospital - again, classic Bryson. The next morning I woke up to a calm text, both assuring me he was alright and not to worry about the blood in the bathroom.
Earlier this month things were looking up as Bryson was cleared by a specialist for small amounts of physical activity. Unfortunately, on the night of the 28th, Bryson suffered another seizure - luckily not as severe, but still resulting in multiple scans and tests.
Despite having insurance, Bryson has already spent close to $6,000 out of pocket for MRI, PET Scans and mandatory weekly check ups. Because of his seizures he is not allowed to drive for 6 months and was forced to take weeks off work while these bills piled up. We expect the total cost of Bryson’s Medical expenses to surpass $10,000. While this is our goal, ANYTHING helps - whether a washington or a benjamin.
Bryson isn’t the kind of guy looking for a free handout - he is a genuine, good person who needs our help. He’s the kind of guy who leaves a twenty to pay for the person’s meal behind him, or the guy who makes me pull the car over to throw a tennis ball back to some players in Cleveland Park. Please join in helping us return the favor.
Thank you!
