Help Bryson and His Family with Medical Costs

Hi, My Name is Melody Fairbanks; I am Billy and Tasha's Aunt and the Great Aunt of Bryson.

Last year Billy and Tasha’s son Bryson went to the doctor for a routine sports physical. As part of his physical, they listened to his heart and found that he had a heart murmur. After doing more testing at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, it was determined that Bryson’s heart was enlarged on the right side resulting from a hole in his heart. The hole prevented the blood from properly flowing through the valve in his heart, causing it to pool around his heart.

On August 18, 2022, Bryson was admitted to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for a catheter procedure, hoping to repair his heart using the least invasive approach. Unfortunately, the procedure did not go as planned. After the Surgeon placed an ultrasound probe down his throat to get a better look at exactly where the hole was, they found that the hole was too large and too close to the main valve to repair using the mesh implant. Therefore, Bryson is now scheduled to have open heart surgery on September 1st. This procedure will require him to be in the hospital for 3-5 days following the surgery and a recovery time of 6 weeks.

Billy and Tasha are hard-working parents who take great care of their children. They have insurance but will still end up having to pay some out-of-pocket medical expenses, travel expenses to go back and forth between Kelso and Portland, and lost income from being off work to be with Bryson while he is in the hospital and as he recovers at home.
