Brynn’s Ventricular Septal Defect Surgery

01/31/23 Brynn has been discharged from the hospital to the Ronald McDonald house which is on hospital grounds. She will have another appointment tomorrow at her surgeons office and may be able to come home on Thursday!!!! It’s amazing how well she is progressing and healing! She is such a strong little girl ❤️‍

01/25/23  Brynn has made it through the surgery and the surgeon said all went well. She will be sedated for a couple of days and can’t be held or stimulated so talking to her and touching her needs to be kept at a minimum which is difficult when all you want to do is comfort her.  I’m very grateful all went well but I was not prepared for seeing her like this it’s heart wrenching. 

Still praying for healing and strength as she gets through each stage of this ❤️. 

 

01/19/23 ** Brynn’s surgery is now scheduled for 01/25/23. She will start her preop appointments in Orlando on Monday 01/23 at Nemour’s Children’s Hospital. We appreciate all your continued thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time for our sweet little girl, for her family and for Dr. Wearden and the rest of the surgical team.

01/12/23 *** Brynn’s surgery for next week has been cancelled due to her testing positive for an upper respiratory infection.   Surgery should be able to be rescheduled in 2 weeks. Thank you all again for your continued donations, thoughts and prayers for our sweet little girl

12/20/22 - 

THANK YOU just doesn’t seem enough ~ We are so appreciative and grateful to everyone that has sent donations here as well as privately. All of your calls and messages with continued thoughts and prayers. It is such a relief to know we have that much less to worry about because of all of your generosity. I said to her today as I was squeezing her tight “Brynny Boo you have no idea how many people love and care for you” We never imagined just a few weeks into her life we would hear this perfect little girl with 10 little fingers and 10 little toes would need surgery to repair holes she has in her heart. Doctors say when she drinks a bottle or nurses it affects her heart as if she’s running a marathon. She falls asleep frequently through feeding and has fought so hard to gain weight. She has had weekly visits for weight checks and monthly visits to the Cardiologist. Despite all of this our little Brynny Boo is the happiest little girl who’s whole face lights up when she smiles As much as we are dreading this surgery we are hopeful and positive it’s going to heal her and make her feel so much better. It’s a scary road for all of us to be on but I know we have a strong little girl that’s going to fight her way through this.

12/17/22 - I wish our sweet little girl could feel in her little ❤️ what we’ve been feeling from so many these past few days. Your generosity, messages, thoughts and prayers mean the world to us!!!

12/14/22 - The time has come and the surgery is now scheduled mid January for our sweet little girl Brynn to have the holes in her heart repaired. We were hoping to have this done when she reached 6 mos old but the cardiologist now fears waiting will risk damage to one of her valves and then she would also need valve replacement surgery.

We’re just finding out now that her portion alone for the open heart surgery is just shy of $7000. Her surgery will take place in Orlando and she will be hospitalized for up to 10 days. Sick time/vacation time will cover some of what will be missed at work and money saved will help cover travel, hotels and meals while away from home. It’s frustrating when you pay so much out of your paycheck to have the insurance, but then you have high deductibles and percentages that need to be paid on top of it. As much as we dislike asking for any type of help we find ourselves in a difficult situation and a very short period of time.

We know and understand it is a difficult time of year for everyone both financially and emotionally. If all you can do is say a prayer for her we appreciate that as well too.
