Hi, my name is Keelee I am raising money for my 11-year-old cousin Brylee. On January 10th Brylee went into surgery to correct severe scoliosis, mid-surgery they discovered she had lost all feeling in her legs. They rushed her into an emergency MRI where they realized they weren't going to be able to proceed with the surgery, in fact, they had to go in and undo everything they had already done. Brylee is currently in the ICU paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors realized her paralysis was caused by the release of a blood clot that had formed due to an artery that was being compressed by her spine. On January 11th it was discovered through another MRI that Brylee had suffered a spinal stroke during surgery. There are moments when she has a slight bit of movement within her toes but as of now the outcome of her recovery is very uncertain and it is unknown if her paralysis is permanent. What is known, is that at some point they will have to go back in and proceed with the initial scoliosis surgery, no matter the outcome, her recovery will include a lengthy hospital stay and an unknown amount of rehabilitation. Brylee is receiving exceptional medical care at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah which is an hour and a half away from their home. These funds will go to help support her parents Kristi and Joey and her brother Houston as they travel back and forth. This will also help to allow her parents to take off work so they are able to spend as much time at the hospital with her as possible. Any help you are able to give will be greatly appreciated by Brylee and her family.
