As many of you know, Maggie and Luis received some bad news at their last baby appointment.
At their 20 week anatomy scan they weren’t able to find a brain or skull on their baby girl. They diagnosed her with anencephaly, a very very rare diagnosis.
They think when they conceived Maggie was as so low on folic acid that the babies neural tube was unable to close therefore causing her to be unable to develop a brain.
They have a consult set with northwest NICU, and are being sent to a specialist in Lubbock. They will have to travel to Lubbock to see this specialist often until baby girl is born.
She is currently 25 weeks but at anytime baby girl could pass and she will deliver her as a stillborn, or if she makes it to 38 weeks they will induce her and baby will go straight on hospice. Babies with this condition only live a few hours after birth.
Either way their time with baby girl is very limited.
They’ve chosen to have Bryer cremated and they will take her home with them that way. They also want to plan a small memorial for her. As we all know things are expensive and the world keeps turning. Hoping this will help ease their stress in this time as they also have 3 other babies to care for.
We are so very heartbroken and wish the outcome was different.
Anything helps and most of all pray for them as they go through this.
