Bryan’s fight against ALS
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kathy Hammond and I’m Bryan’s mother, Andrea’s mother- in- law, and the Grandma “ Gma “ to these two beautiful girls.
Bryan’s Story:
Bryan has been married to his wife, Andrea, for 15 beautiful years. They have two beautiful girls, Jade (10) and McKenzie (5). Bryan was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/Lou Gehrig’s) in 2023 at the young age of 42. It started with what they thought was simply carpal tunnel and sleep apnea last spring/summer. During the process of correcting those items, Bryan was hospitalized with extremely low oxygen levels in October 2022 and after many tests and several months, Bryan was diagnosed with ALS in March. Bryan has lost a lot of muscle in his hands and has an extremely low lung capacity due to a partially paralyzed diaphragm. He has to regulate his breathing by monitoring his oxygen levels and having resources like a walker, manual wheelchair, and a portable electric wheelchair for him to use so he isn't walking too far. He uses a noninvasive vent machine to help his breathing for sleeping and for as needed during the day. You can imagine, this past year has been incredibly difficult for Bryan, Andrea, and their girls.
Our goal with this fundraiser is to ensure that Bryan can live the best life possible with ALS (he’ll be needing a full sized power wheelchair, accessible van, and house renovations) and also help provide for the girls’ education and future. This fundraiser will help remove some of the financial stress from Bryan and Andrea as Bryan’s condition progresses and having a loss of one income.
If you are in a position to help Bryan, Andrea, Jade, and McKenzie, please consider donating and sharing Bryan’s story with others.
If you are unsure of what ALS is, Google it (remember the Ice Bucket Challenge). It's a really aggressive, progressive, terminal disease.
On behalf of the Hammond Family, we thank you for your continued love, support and prayers. You all are a True Blessing to us.
