However you may know him, whether it be
through his love for playing pool, hitting
the greens with his golf clubs, or maybe as your local meat-cutter, then you probably know that Bryan’s Tam’s charisma is
contagious!!
I know him because he is the father of my
children, Cameron & Mackenzie. I also
spent more than 15 years with him as his
girlfriend and then wife. We have certainly shared many good times and bad. We have been divorced now for 7 years. It was a bit rocky at first as we navigated our lives in
different directions, and even if he hasn’t
told you, I have always had his back. This
week, however, has been by far the most
difficult week we have faced. I put myself in a position to support him when I realized
he really needed help.
Bryan has been having health concerns
since November. He has had several
emergency room visits with various
symptoms. He hasn’t had any real answers or relief. He has lost 50 lbs since then. This week on our drive to the hospital for a long awaited scope test, we were relieved to
finally be getting some answers. I was with him when he woke up from the test. He
was kind of groggy, which is to be
expected. Just a few minutes later
everything changed as the doctor came in
and said, “We have a problem.....You have
Esophageal Cancer.”
From then on, all of the tests and
information has been a blur so we decided
to share with our friends and family what
we know.
Bryan has been diagnosed with Esophageal
Cancer that has spread into his stomach.
The doctors told us that with aggressive
treatment he would have months....not
years.
I could go on here about how extremely
sad this week has been and how difficult it was trying to tell our children, but what he needs right now is lots and lots of positive
thoughts and prayers. Let’s rally together
and help him find the courage to give this
one hell of a shot!! He needs all the love
and support he can get!!
We have very quickly realized the financial
challenges. Bryan was taken out of work
last week and his normal monthly bills will
continue to be due. I have heard him
speak about his worry of this and this
burden should be lifted for him so he can
focus on his health. We haven’t even begun to understand out of pocket medical
expenses but I thought this would be a
good place to start.
