Hi, my name is Mark Siegfried, my siblings and I, along with our entire family, are trying to raise funds for our brother Bryan, who is battling cancer, and need financial aid for treatments, and household expenses.
Coming from a family who will give you the shirt off their back to help you with whatever is needed, where blood is thicker than water, greed is never a play in the mind, humbleness is always at the forefront and never wanting to ask for help or support, there comes a time in your life that you may need to lean on others as your last hope.
Bryan Siegfried, a beloved family member, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer two years ago. If anyone has ever had a family member go through cancer you know the pain, suffering and agony that a person endures going through treatment to try and survive. It is not only hard for the person going through this agonizing time, but to have to worry about every day medical bills that continue to come in that insurance didn’t pick up, struggling and having to quit your job so that you can try to recuperate after each treatment that literally drains your veins of the blood that pumps through your body. The stress of trying to live a basic life, having to pay for housing to have a roof over your head, a car payment so that you have a way to get to your medical appointments, everyday bills that keep just piling up. We all know that stress as we all have it but step into someone’s shoes and imagine having lung cancer at the same time…
After receiving chemotherapy, the first several times, it took a brutal toll on his body. However, the tumor shrunk and spreading of the cancer lessened. A positive beam of light… The unbearable pain and suffering were so much that a break was needed. Two months, two months is all he asked for to be able to try and heal and get back to a somewhat “normal” life. Doctors agreed, take two months off, do a scan and see where we are. Those two months passed, and the doctors did a new lung scan. Now imagine these words coming from your doctors. “If you don’t start chemo back immediately, you will have approximately up to a year to live, if you start chemotherapy back possibly one to two years.” Those words weigh on your mind. HOW DOES ONE COPE with hearing those words while struggling to just live a basic life paying all the bills that are piling up and know if you want to try and survive you need to do more chemo which means more medical bills? HOW DO YOU HEAL stressing over bills and getting your life-end in order? He is a fighter and continues to fight every day, week and month that passes.
Thoughts and prayers are powerful; immensely powerful in keeping your mind in a positive light. We ask that everyone keeps Bryan in their thoughts and prayers as he continues to go through treatments. At the same time, giving to others to help them in a time of need so they can try to survive as long as they can, is helping humankind… a friend… a family member… a loved one.
Being humble and kind sometimes means reaching out for a helping hand. If possible, the family asks if you can give any monetary donation to help him support his basic needs of life i.e., medical bills, rent, a car to get to therapy, etc. Every little bit helps. We know he hates asking for help, but we know his family is helping as much as they can to supply him with what he needs to live and sometimes the hands of others can help make the world of difference in someone’s life. If you can, please know our entire family is in sincere appreciation and thankfulness for your generosity.
