Memorial Education Fund for McMichael Family

As some of you know, we lost our "Mimi," Millie Lucas (Kelly’s mom), on February 16, 2024. Millie always had the unique ability to bring people together no matter their background, job, interests, or beliefs. In fact, she is still pulling these strings from above. The night before her passing, our family had the awesome opportunity to be with her in the ICU in full spirit - laughing, sharing stories, feeding her favorite soup, and listening to her favorite music. During this time, we were told by the ICU staff that things were about to get hectic as a very critical patient was coming in next door. We were in the ICU so these things seemed to be the norm, but the next morning hit close to home. As we made our laps in the ICU hallways we found out the critical patient was Bryan McMichael - husband to Jill, and father to Tyler and Haley. Both Tyler and Haley attend Ave Maria Catholic School with our children Claire, Lucas, and Lucy. Most recently, Tyler and Lucas played on the same 3rd grade basketball team, where we witnessed the McMichael's love and commitment to their family firsthand.

Bryan tragically passed away the same day as Millie, only a few feet away from each other in the ICU.

Over the past week we've had many ups and downs as we mourn the loss of our beloved Mimi. We've had moments of silence in thought and prayer, and a consistent voice we've continued to hear is to find ways to support and love the McMichael Family. It was no accident we were next to each other in the ICU that day - we feel this coincidence happened for a reason through the spirit and genuine care Millie gave to those around her every day. We have learned it is the McMichael's wish to carry on their children's Jesuit education through high school. For these reasons we are beginning a memorial education fund for Tyler and Haley. We ask that you please support the McMichael family with whatever contribution you can make, along with continued prayer. All donations will go directly to the McMichael family.
