Bryan and Miquela Pierce fire relief fund

This week, two of our closest friends, Bryan and Miquela Pierce, lost their home and everything in it to the devastating Lahaina Fires on the island of Maui. We are eternally grateful that they were able to evacuate with their pets and are safe. However, they are still without permanent shelter, power, and other vital resources. The community of Lahaina has been utterly destroyed, and as of the creation of this page, our friends are still just trying to survive.

While they became each of our friends at different points, we can all agree that they are presences of absolute warmth and kindheartedness who have carved out precious spaces in our hearts. Miq and Bryan met while attending college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and have since lived in North Carolina, San Luis Obispo again, Scottsdale, and finally Lahaina—collecting us all into their lives along the way. They have two cats, Cosmo and Spumoni, who have been with them for over ten years. They are our best friends, a model couple, wonderful pet parents, and wholly beautiful human beings.

This GoFundMe has been set up on Bryan and Miquela’s behalf by a group of their close friends who have come together from different parts of the country to do whatever we can to help them from afar. Though it will not replace all that was lost, we hope that this will help pave the way for their path back to safety, security, and eventually comfort again. All funds will go directly to Bryan and Miquela once they are back in a stable location to help cover necessary travel, relocation costs, veterinary care, as well as clothing and other essentials that they had to leave behind.
