Brutus's Medical Mystery: We Need Your Help

Donation protected
Hi! My names Julia and my family really, REALLY needs your help.

Back in February we adopted our pittie Brutus when he was just 8 weeks old. We brought him home after very recently losing our soul dog, Hank. Our other dog Mela was showing signs of being severely depressed without Hank and we knew she needed a buddy. Although it was very soon for us emotionally to let in another dog into our hearts, we decided to check out a litter of puppies at our local Humane Society and insert *Brutus*. We were immediately drawn to him. He was so sweet, great-tempered, playful, everything we wanted. Against my better judgement, we took him home lol.

Brutus fell right into our hearts right away. Anyone who has met him gets it. He is just this ball of love, I really can’t explain it any other way. It felt like Hank hand picked him just for us.

Now let’s talk about the not so fun part of this. A week after we took Brutus home, we noticed blood in his urine. As I’ve had some minor vet med experience, I wasn’t worried. Probably a UTI- he’ll just need medicine and will be fine. Our vet thought the same thing. So antibiotics it was. But that didn’t work. So we did an ultra sound. Looked like a prostate infection so we switched the meds. But that ALSO didn’t work. We’re officially puzzled. Why is this puppy peeing blood??

At this point his pee got a lot worse and looked like straight blood rather than urine mixed with some blood. Of course, we did more tests because we needed to figure out what was going on.

To cut to the chase: we’ve had lots of vet visits, tests, bloodwork, ultrasounds, urine cultures, countless of medicines, one ER visit and we have quite literally gotten no where. The one thing we do know is that he’s now anemic from the amount of blood he’s actively losing so we NEED to continue to figure this out.

This is where we need help. We’re at a point where we’ve spent all that we could. We’ve had to scoop into our savings, max out two credit cards and we’re at a loss. Our last and FINAL option is see a specialist and do a cystoscopy which costs upward to a few thousand. We just don’t have that.

We. Need. Help… please. I’m crying writing this part but we CANNOT lose Brutus. He has healed something in us and we know we can give him a lifetime of happiness. We just need to know what (excuse my language) the f*** is going.

Right now, Brutus seems to be okay. Good energy, eating and drinking great but who knows how long that will last so we would greatly appreciate any help.

Well anyways, if you have made it this far THANK YOU. We would appreciate any donation for his care. And if you cannot afford too, please share. Again, thank you.

I do also need to give a huge thank you to everyone at the Kirtland Vet and Dr. Noonan for being so kind and helpful during this very stressful time for me. I cannot stress how much you all mean to me.
