Hi, my name is Cynthia and I’m raising funds for my 12-yr-old cat Brutus’ veterinary care. He had surgery for mast cell tumors in 2021, and the cancer has returned. Today he had extensive diagnostics to find out where the cancer is located, and he will need tumor removal within 30 days that may include removing his spleen and possibly chemotherapy. Today’s diagnostics alone were $3,600. I’m an animal welfare professional, and I just don’t have available the kind of money this is going to cost.
Brutus is my family. If you’re a pet parent, you likely feel like I do: I’ll do anything I can possibly do to keep my furbabies healthy and enjoying good quality of life.
I spend my days saving animals from cruelty, neglect and homelessness. And I see, all too often, animals surrendered to our shelter because families cannot afford veterinary care. It’s a national crisis, this lack of access to veterinary care. It tears families apart. So this issue is bigger than just me. If this fundraiser sheds some light on that, it will be worth it.
The goal I’ve listed would cover today’s visit and transportation to and from the vet. I included the breakdown of today’s visit in the images below. I may update the goal when labs coms back and I hear treatment recommendations from the doctor.
Any donated amount is sincerely appreciated, even $1. And if you’re unable to donate today to help Brutus and me, please consider sharing this fundraising message on social media, if only to spread the message that the US has a veterinary accessibility crisis. Brutus and I will be extremely grateful.
