Hi, we are Karen and Wayne and this is our gorgeous English Mastweiler, Brutus. Anyone who knows us knows just how much we love our fur babies, and if you know us you will have most definitely met our beautiful Brutus.

On Wednesday night, Brutus collapsed and was struggling to walk. The following hours at the emergency vets, phone calls and more vet visits the answers we got were that he had a spinal injury though they don’t know what has happened.

Our boy is now paralysed, from the waist down. Our bright, bouncing, loving and beautiful boy has lost the use of his back legs, his bowel and bladder. He can’t walk, play or even lie down without being in agonising pain. To say we are all just devastated is an understatement.

We have to find over £6,000 for MRI, surgery and ongoing treatment for after. Right now he is medicated and we are trying to get him to have as much rest as possible - which you can understand if you’ve met him - this is an impossible task for him. He loves to play, to kiss and cuddle everyone who comes round.

Brutus needs 24hr round the clock care and treatment until we can make it to the next stage where we are hoping to raise some money from the support of our friends and Facebook family through this go fund me page. All I ask is if you could please share his story in the hope that people will see our beautiful boy and potentially help us to get him the surgery he desperately needs to get back to the beautiful bouncing boy he is. My heart is broken for him. Please, if you could donate that would be amazing - we don’t feel like we deserve it but we literally will do everything we can to get him the help. we have found the cheapest pet hospital - Animal Trust in Bolton to do the imaging and surgery. This should be around £5,000. We have already spent so much of our money on beds, nappies, pads, joint and muscle stimulants, hoists, vitamins and anything we can think of to help aid his recovery. Brutus will need hydrotherapy which is £150 weekly and we don’t know how long he will need that for. The recovery after will require more treatment. Any help is greatly appreciated. the money from this fundraiser has already helped us to pay the £1800 initial consultation cost and the MRI cost at Northwest Referrals vets in Wigan. We have posted receipts on our Facebook page.

the bill for Brutus surgery is £4.5k and donations have been used to pay the credit amount of the bill off 0% interest credit we received. The bill is down to just under £3k now and we have yet to find the wheelchair and the hydrotherapy. Every single penny will be documented for you all to see. Thank you so very much.
