Let's get these students home.
Hello, my name is Autumn Wong. I graduated from Brown this past May with my bachelor’s degree and will be applying to medical school. During my time at Brown, I served as a First-Year Community Coordinator, also known as a residential assistant. Through a discussion in the Miami Alumni WhatsApp group, I learned that some students were still in need of assistance returning home.
I reached out this evening, 12/14/2025, to my former residents, peers, and past Meiklejohn mentees, who are now sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and invited them to contact me if they needed support. I have had the privilege of mentoring many of these students and seeing them flourish in the Open curriculum just as many of us have.
Several students responded with issues related to flight changes and booking. With the E-Gap and UCS funds closed for the night and the time being between 11:00 p.m. and 4:00 am EST, I chose to assist with the costs of flight bookings and related expenses on behalf of the alumni community.
I have created a GoFundMe to help offset these costs. There is absolutely no pressure to donate, as I made this decision myself to expedite the process, and I recognize that other forms of aid have been available. Many students expressed a desire to depart on Monday or Tuesday, and I determined that addressing the situation promptly this Sunday was in their best interest. Any additional help would be appreciated, especially if additional students need assistance from the alumni community.

Brown has demonstrated to me the power of community and kindness and I hope that we can all come together as a community in these trying times.
