My name is Chrystina Casado and I am a New York-based Caribbean and Southern food Chef, artist, Mom, and owner of Brunch At Zion's.

WHAT IS BRUNCH AT ZIONS?

Imagine a black owned space with Caribbean & Mediterranean vibes and the welcoming feeling of the South, including organic based eats, good music, beautiful home goods, plants, & art for sale. Imagine a space that brought together the best of black culture, combined with the healthiest local food around. Imagine a space that brings Black Healing and Joy to life.

THIS IS BRUNCH AT ZIONS.

Brunch At Zion's just hit our two-year anniversary – and after overwhelming community support from our inception as an online shop (and soon after, for our pop-ups around the city and catered events ) we are excited to launch a campaign to give Brunch At Zion's a brick-and-mortar home in the South Bronx.

Oh yes, we have a particular space in mind: a historic building located in the South Bronx. It is an affordable, quality work space for emerging artists, makers, technologists, and entrepreneurs. And truly, what pairs better together than food and creatives? Here, we would be close to even more of our favorite community spaces like our local gardens, parks, and museums.

Brunch At Zion's isn’t just Black-Owned, it’s single mom owned. My business was borne from my love of family and cooking. Cooking has always been an integral part of my growing up. It is my love language. Coming from a multi-ethnic family, I've learned to weave into every single one of my recipes each of the cultures and influences I've embraced and they highlight my love for family, heritage, and my greatest inspiration, my son: Zion. And, that's how Brunch at Zion's went from a dream to reality.

Crowdfunding campaigns are typical for restaurants and there's a reason why: restaurants give back to the community and serve as a resource and meeting place for the local community. Community gathering is inherent to restaurants and local eateries. Brunch At Zion's will be a beautiful space where people can come together and ideas can flourish, where creatives can ignite discussions and discourse helps revolutionize those ideas. It will be a place where the introverts can find solace in individual work spaces and the extroverts can find conversation, where lovers, friends, family, professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs can meet.

The restaurant will serve Caribbean and Mediterranean influenced organic food with a down South vibe, because we believe food is medicine. It will be open into the evening for public and private events. We will rent the event space for intimate events that share in our values of inclusion, creativity, and community. Of course the event space will also be open to rent for private events such as dinners, engagement parties, and other family & friend gatherings.

We have a long-held passion for honoring and protecting culture through creating spaces to celebrate it and now with your help, we can bring Brunch At Zion's into its own space.

I am humbled by the overwhelming and consistent support I’ve already received and would value any future support you may be able to provide towards bringing Brunch at Zions home to a brick-and-mortar location in the South Bronx.
