Bruised but Unbroken: Fighting Against Mistreatment

Hi, my name is Lily, and I'm raising funds to help me fight the unfair treatment I experienced during a recent traffic stop.

I was originally pulled over for having my headlights off. When taken into custody, the handcuffs were put on so tight that they left bruises on both arms, and I was left in pain. A doctor later diagnosed me with contusions on both arms. At the police station, I was taken to speak to an ICE agent who asked me about my legal status and where my parents were from — even though I’m a U.S. citizen and my parents are citizens too. It felt humiliating and discriminatory, especially when others who didn’t look like me weren’t questioned about their background at all.

When I asked for water, an officer told me I could drink water from “on top of the toilet” where I was then placed inside a bathroom. No water was ever given to me, and I had to drink from a sink while still in handcuffs.

I believe no one should have to go through this kind of mistreatment, and I’m determined to stand up for my rights. I’m asking for help to cover the initial legal fees needed to hire an experienced lawyer to take my case — I’m looking to raise $400 to $500 just to get started. I’m committed to paying the rest myself.
