When I left Florida to study music composition and violin in Rome, I had no idea that I would end up in in film, but three years ago, I unexpectedly found myself as a recurring actor in the Disney program, Penny on Mars.

In these three years, I've come to quickly realize that many of the stories about people of color (Americans, Africans, Latinos, Black Italians etc) within the Italian film industry are not written by us, and as a result of this, the roles are limited, few and stereotypical. Many of the black actors that I've met all express their desire to have more opportunities at varied roles and to be portrayed as normal human beings; not just the struggling immigrant, refugee, criminal and poor illiterate person in need of a savior. My objective is for us to take control of our narrative, connect to an audience that lacks authentic representation, dispel myths and challenge stereotypes through strong storytelling and humor.

To do this, I have written a short film called, BRUH: Bears, Blackface & BBQ which features Rome's first all black main cast and will serve as the introduction to my original series, BRUH. My goal for this project is that it becomes a platform where we minority actors, directors, writers, musicians and producers can collaborate, create and build a place for us within the Italian film industry and thereby provide opportunities for ourselves and for our community.

At the end of 2019 , I collaborated with Zero Productions (Rome, IT) to film two teasers: Italian's Only and Displaced. We have an extrememly talented and motivated cast & crew, and with your help we will be able to do more and ultimately break the mold by creating a project that amplifies the voices of so many beautiful people with inspirational and creative stories.
