Bruckner, Struck by Car and Left to Die
Donation protected
On December 23rd, while driving my mom home to NJ, I saw a furry outline on the left lane of the Bruckner Expressway. I normally avoid roadkill, so I often look to make sure I don’t strike them again. Upon second glance, I realize the furry ball was alive after ears flickered in reaction to a car driving close by. I put my hazards on and jumped out of my car. The cat was alive and didn’t seem to have any noticeable injuries. With horns honking, I picked him up and placed him in my warm car.
After dropping my mother off, I made an appointment to take him to the vet for the following day. I didn’t believe he was injured as I saw this new travel companion moving behind my driver seat attempting to get comfortable for some needed sleep.
After our arrival home, the poor boy began to cry loudly when I carried him inside. Once placing him in a crate my husband had readily available for his arrival, I realized his leg was at a 90 degree angle...he had a broken leg. :(
I took him to the vet immediately where they notified me he had been struck by a car.
The doctor estimated it would be a $5,500 surgery to mend his leg alone. The quote did not include any other injuries or ailments he could’ve had in addition to his broken leg.
Update (1/18:19): Bills are up to $5750.00 due to complications pertaining to infection damage control.
Upon being advised of possible additional costs, I am asking for some assistance as we weren’t prepared to attain this type of medical bill.
He is currently being treated at:
Animal Medicine & Surgery of Little Neck
47-41 Little Neck Parkway
Little Neck, NY 11362
718-423-5038
He has been through so much already. If the medical expenses are less than the amount received through everyone’s generosity, I will donate the rest to For Animals, Inc. They are a wonderful organization helping all animals in need of medical care, foster care, rehoming and flat out love!❤️
Thank you all so very much and Happy Holidays to all.
God’s love has no boundaries. Our helpless animals are no exception.❤️
