Bruce’s Spinal Injury Recovery to Independence

Donation protected
Bruce Brown had a motorcycle accident 5 years ago, leaving him a quadriplegic with C4-5 incomplete injury. Bruce has limited use of his arms and legs but has made some progress. Before his accident Bruce led an adventurous life which included hiking, camping and riding his motorcycle into new and amazing parts of our beautiful country.

Since the accident, things have radically changed for him in many ways, most of all, getting out and about independently has been challenging to say the least.

Bruce currently lives in Mullumbimby near a nature reserve and often has difficulty getting around safely in his current two wheel drive wheelchair.

He has been stuck many times which causes multiple problems. More often than not, he has to ask for help to get his wheelchair unstuck, he’s even fallen out of his chair.

Bruce has always had a deep connection with the bush and all its wonderful wildlife, he particularly loves birdwatching. Having only one two wheel drive wheelchair limits him in many ways, most of the difficulties he faces are accessing the beach, trails and tracks which he once knew and loved. This limits him greatly and is virtually impossible with his current two wheel drive wheelchair setup.

We have done some research into off-road wheelchairs and Bruce has even considered designing his own, but of all the different options available, we have discovered one that is by far the top of its competition. The Terrain Hopper four wheel drive wheelchair which will go anywhere and suit Bruce’s needs.

The Terrain Hopper is produced in England and hand made to order, its 100% electric and full four wheel drive with independent suspension gives it a smooth and safer ride, the cost is around $36,000 door to door.

To be able to get out and about accessing those previously inaccessible locations again and also be with his daughter and family, sharing his passion and knowledge about nature would be priceless for him. We’re asking for a helping hand to help raise the necessary funds to help Bruce purchase one of these amazing machines.

All additional money raised will go to the Perry Cross Foundation for research into a cure for spinal cord injury.

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

The Terrain Hopper four wheel drive wheel chair can solve most of Bruce's day to day transport challenges.
