Bruce's Fight: From CPR to Recovery

Miracle on Peanut Island!

As many friends and family are aware, but some may not be, Bruce Brown (my dad) went down from a cardiac event while vacationing in Palm Beach. They were on an island offshore called Peanut Island, and by the grace of God, there was an ER doctor, a nurse, and multiple other trained people who performed CPR on him for 45 minutes while waiting for an ambulance boat to show up and get him back to shore. By the grace of God, he is alive but in the ICU over 3 hours away from home. This being said, they would never ask for help, but as their oldest daughter, I want to do something to help them. They will be having an extended stay, and Tiffany will need access to a hotel as well as meals while he is here trying to recover. We were able to temporarily provide the funds to get their daughter (my sister) Haley back from Scotland to be here with the family, but this also was a financial strain. I am asking for the family that if you can donate, even if it’s $5 or $10, to please help them in this time of need. He is lucky to be alive but has several challenges ahead of him. They were able to remove him from the ventilator, but because of this and the 45 minutes of CPR that was performed, he has ended up with pneumonia, and with having multiple broken ribs from the CPR, it is making it very difficult for his recovery. They have told us that he is going to have to show improvement with the pneumonia before they can do surgery to put in a defibrillator for his heart. With all this being said, his wife is having to stay in a hotel and purchase meals as well as drive back and forth to the hospital since he is in ICU and they will not let her stay with him. He had many angels on the beach that day that made sure he made it to the hospital, but he has a long road ahead, and now the family needs a few more angels to help them financially get by until he can either be moved closer to home or get released.
