BRUCE LIGGETT HOSPITAL FUND

On the evening of February 11th 2023 Bruce was riding a young mare that was in training. The mare was spooked by an incident on the highway and proceeded to buck and run out of control. The mare was ridden and sale-prepped two days prior and had no issues. Bruce was taken to the local hospital for evaluation. The ER doctors had him moved to the trauma center in Fort Worth, Harris Medical. He endured a broken clavicle, three broken ribs under his arm, and a broken tibia at the ankle. The doctors put a pic line to his ribs so he could take deep breaths and breath easier. It is still undetermined if his ankle will need surgery due to the location of the break. He will require intensive physical therapy at a rehab facility. The doctors have stated that he will need to be out of work for 14 weeks. We are grateful that this was the extent of his injuries, and we know it could have been much worse. We are hoping that he will not require surgery but we are preparing for the "what may be". If anyone in the horse community can reach out and help a fellow horseman and trainer in need, our family would be more than grateful for any and all help through this trying time.
Thank you all,
