Bruce Babin Medical Expenses
Donation protected
We have all been touched in some way or another by the dreaded "C" word. Too many of us know and love people who have fought and lost their battle to cancer, and some that have kicked cancer's a$$ and continue to do so. I never thought I would be here, not for my family, not this soon. I'm not ready for this. But then again, no one is ever ready for a cancer diagnosis.
Earlier this year my father, Bruce Babin, after feeling ill for many months (when you make just enough money not to qualify for free health insurance but not enough to pay for private health insurance, going to the hospital is terrifying) he finally agreed to see a doctor and was diagnosed with pneumonia. After treating the pneumonia to no avail, they did some further testing and in October was diagnosed with late stage Small Cell Carcinoma. Since then it has been an emotional roller coaster for our family. He was recently admitted for Covid Pneumonia and the Cancer has spread. We are hopeful and praying for a miracle, but in the meantime, medical expenses have been piling up.
For anyone that knows my father, you know how hard he has worked his whole life to provide for his wife and 11 children. Missing events, holidays and birthdays to make sure we had food on the table and a roof over our heads. He's worked every day of his life up until now when he physically can't. Even when he was home, he was working on the house or helping a friend in need. And that's just who he is. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need (or a part off his own truck to a stranger broken down on the highway!), never expecting anything in return. His entire life, what he views as his purpose, is to work hard and provide for his family. But despite his hard work all these years, he's left with nothing now when he needs it most.
My father is also a very proud and private person. I know he wouldn't want me here, asking strangers for money. But here I am, because I know him. I know that instead of focusing on resting and healing, all he sees are dollar signs with every new test, treatment and procedure. He sees the bills racking up and no money coming in. We are trusting that God knows he has so much life to live still, but whether he has months or years left with us on earth, I don't want him to worry about being buried in debt.
So I ask you, please consider helping my parents in this time of need.
