This time of year is a very special time for us all as we begin to wind down and focus on FAMILY. We gather together, we give thanks, we laugh, we play games, we watch movies, we drink hot chocolate, we share stories over some beers and wine, we find the magic in Christmas and share that experience with our children, we look forward to seeing joy in others as they open gifts. It is a beautiful time of year to reflect, to hug those kiddos tighter, and love those who are very near and dear to us.
As you know, Bruce and Nicole had a tough year last year. They experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions finding out they were pregnant. Such wonderful news, but learned that they were pregnant with not only 1 baby but 4 babies. They knew the risks and took many precautions to make sure Nicole and the babies will ok. What was disbelief at first became immediate excitement as their family life was going to be entirely different from their family unit of 3- Nicole, Bruce, and Kahlan. Then the unexpected happened and all the excitement turned to worry and ultimately to them losing all the babies. What was such a tragic experience for them only made Bruce and Nicole stronger. As Bruce's sister, I have seen them thrive, rebuild, find joy, and continue to build their Family. I find strength in them and am lucky to not only be their sister, but for them to be an integral part of my kids lives.
As we approach the year of their loss, I would like to celebrate these babies in a way that will special for Bruce and Nicole and their kids (Kahlan and baby girl #2). As you know, Bruce and Nicole love the Lincoln Park Zoo. They took some of their wedding pictures there and are members. I was hoping with your help to dedicate a leaf with the babies names on them as a symbol to honor these children who were taken away too quickly.The leaf will be placed near in the kids section
of the zoo for Bruce and Nicole and all of us to see every time we go to the zoo.
