I'm Publishing Brown Skin Book 4
Donation protected
Okay so I've really debated whether or not previous supporters of my Brown Skin poetry books would be interested enough in my ongoing story to help me publish a fourth book. I tried to look at this from every conceivable angle and I keep arriving at the same place. I really believe that we've been in this thing together from the very beginning...from our first successful Kickstarter campaign, through my second blessed GoFundMe effort, until right now, when I'm just a couple of months away from submitting book four, "Brown Skin and the Burden of Proof: A Poet's Revelation", to the publisher.
So, I'm going out on a limb and reaching out to my friends, family and fellow literary travelers once again. I'm targeting September for the book's release and I'd love to have your aid in making that a reality. This rebooted GoFundMe campaign is about publishing a new message, a new testimony, new signs, dreams, and wonders that the past few years have made plain to me. It' s about Habakkuk 2:2 "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it."
To be totally honest, I originally thought that my Brown Skin book journey would result in a trio of volumes and that book three would be the last. Yet the story continues and to put it simply, there's more to be said about where I am as the messenger and where you are as the message's intended audience. And if you're new to the program, you can get a good sense of who I am and what I do at my website: www.brownskinnedpoet.net ... My other three books and a stylish DVD are all available to purchase there, as well.
In a word, book four is powerful. It has been forged on that very same anvil of trial and triumph that made my first three volumes come alive. It is love, death, politics, faith, family, community, history and truth. It is brown, black and tan in the new reality of black and white in America and beyond. It's around the corner and across the street...and it's a whole world away. It's somewhere that I need to take you to; but I need your help. The financial reality of this season dictates that I can't do this on my own strength. I'm praying about it daily and trusting that the Lord will make a way. As I do this, I hear in my spirit that people who love me, and love what I do as a poet, are in my corner too. This puts a quickening in my step and a bit of fire in my belly. Can I count on you? Can I count on you again?
In my last campaign, I found GoFundMe to be a kindler, gentler crowdfunding approach and the right door for me walk through...Now, once again, I sincerely believe that our sense of shared responsibility and cooperation will really make for an incredibly satisfying literary accomplishment. So I would definitely be blessed by a renewed groundswell of your support! GoFundMe will allow me to access all of the funds that are pledged during the campaign, even if I don't collect the total amount I'm seeking.
My prayer is that we’ll be successful in this recharged effort; and I promise you that all of the funds pledged in this new campaign will cover producing and printing the new book, some initial product distribution, books-on-hand, and a significant amount of the ongoing marketing costs. And, for everyone that pledges $25 or more, I've got some great literary rewards to offer. I hope you will all come back to support me in this GoFundMe effort, and even look to engage others in helping me reach this financial goal!
The time for this project is now; so I’m totally committed to this new timeline for "Brown Skin and the Burden of Proof". I’m optimistic that with your support and no major obstacles (production delays, shipping issues, etc.) we'll get this work in print in the early Fall! I'll handle any issues that arise with grace and fully communicate those challenges to you faithfully. I will once again work hard to convince you that your trust and support is well-placed. As questions come up, I pledge to be responsive, patient and appropriately transparent.
Whether you're able to pledge to this campaign or not, please do me the favor of again spreading the word of this GoFundMe effort. Share it by word-of-mouth and through all of your social media outlets, including Facebook, email, Twitter, Instagram and wherever else you may have connections. Thanks again getting involved with this updated campaign, because I firmly believe that “Brown Skin and the Burden of Proof” will be a revelation of truth and testimony that you’ll be blessed by, and want to share for years to come!
