Brown/RISD Poetry Team go to CUPSI

Hi! We are the Brown/RISD College Union Poetry Slam Invitational  team– David Guy, Nadia Wolff, B Oke,  Ute Petit, Julian McBride, and Maya Greenhill.

We are poets who write  to engage in sociopolitical change, facilitate healing, and to tell the stories of the places and peoples we come from. Our work explores themes of race, gender and sexuality, religion, migration and family, and diaspora.

CUPSI is the largest college-level competitive poetry slam in the country, that brings together 70+ colleges from around the states and the world! With your help, we will be able to travel and compete in CUPSI along with our coaches, Chrysanthemum Tran and Justice Ameer. We will showcase our writing on a national platform, attend poetry workshops, and engage with an international writing community.

We are in need of $3000 to fulfill our budget. Your funds will be used to pay for:

i) CUPSI registration fee

ii) travel costs (from Providence to Philadelphia, and back)

iii) accommodations (hotel rooms and food for our poets)

Any contribution is welcome! Every dollar goes toward supporting young artists. Thank you!
