My name is Steve and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my brother Ben and his family who received catastrophic damage to their home in western North Carolina. They lost their vehicles, a lot of their possessions, and received major damage to their home in a catastrophic landslide spawned by Hurricane Helene where they live near Boone NC. They ran out the back door through the woods and barely escaped. Due to an exemption clause homeowners insurance will not cover the event. Ben work for Samaritans Purse and his wife Jenn homeschools their 5 kids. Please prayerfully consider donating to help them through this horrific event. Money raised through this fundraiser will be used to help the family with restoration, rebuild, replacement of lost items, and heavy site work to repair the foundation and surrounding property washed away.

Great news from my brother this morning. It seems the house may be salvageable. It initially appeared the home had been pushed off its foundation, however after an initial dig-out in the basement a structural inspection reveals that there is less damage than initially believed. This is great news , however the recovery and repair work is still very extensive. The entire basement which is part of the living space will need to be rebuilt as well as the kitchen where a tree came through the wall. Joist damage in the basement ceiling/floor of the home occurred as well where the minivan was pinned to the top of the garage by a boulder. Also, heavy equipment work will be needed to regrade the entire area around the home to prevent future occurrences should additional storms strike . This is all without insurance coverage due to the landslide exemption so thank you again for your support and please continue to pray and give as you feel led.
