During the first half of this year the Gwinnett County Fire Department has experienced the loss of two active duty members. In the spirit of support and remembrance of Lt Robert Fernandez-F1059 and Firefighter Steven Mathews-F1522, we have a duty to continue to serve and support the families of our lost firefighters. We lost Lt Fernandez in a tragic diving accident off duty and FF Mathews to cancer. They both left behind loving friends and families including a number of children (Fernandez is survived by 4 children and Mathews is survived by 2 children). We are looking to support them by raising money in honor of their lives and their families. All funds will be donated to the support of the families and children of these two lost fathers. In addition to this endeavor we are selling tin helmet shields through Taylor’s Tins. Our goal is to strengthen the support for one another and continue support of those in need. Our fallen brothers' families are in need. Any support will be greatly appreciated.
