Help One of the Few Black Woman-Owned Wellness Clubs in NYC

The Brooklyn Wellness Club

We are a Black woman-owned wellness and creative space located in the heart of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. At The Brooklyn Wellness Club, we center community, wellness, and creativity — offering space for purpose, growth, and entrepreneurship. Whether someone comes here to teach, host, co-work, move their body, or simply breathe, this space was built with us in mind.

Our mission is simple and powerful: to create space for rest, movement, creativity, and entrepreneurship — all under one roof. We offer yoga, pilates, and meditation classes, host community events, and provide support for entrepreneurs to grow their brands, build their businesses, and connect with others.

This is not just a studio — it’s a launchpad for local leaders, artists, and dreamers to grow and thrive.

Why This Matters Now

Too many Black-led wellness and creative spaces in NYC have shut their doors in recent years — not because the vision wasn’t strong, but because access to capital and resources was limited. The Brooklyn Wellness Club is one of the few still standing — and we’ve already built something powerful.

We’ve:

  • Introduced over 200 people to yoga, pilates, and mindfulness — many for the very first time.

  • Created affirming spaces like Yoga for Black Women and Yoga for Black Men, where community members can move, breathe, and heal in environments designed for them.

  • Hosted 50+ community classes and events, making wellness more accessible and culturally relevant in Bed-Stuy.

  • Served as a launchpad for over 10 new businesses — from nonprofits to LLCs — that began their journey inside The Brooklyn Wellness Club.

  • Kept wellness affordable, with more than half of our offerings donation-based or sliding scale.

Why We’re Raising $50,000

We’re not just trying to stay open — we’re building for long-term sustainability and growth. With your support, this fundraiser will help us:

30% ($15,000) – Space, Operations & Upgrades
  • Covers rent and utilities to keep our doors open in Bed-Stuy, while also funding much-needed upgrades — from chairs and seating, to sound/AV equipment, to storage solutions — so The Brooklyn Wellness Club can fully serve as a multi-purpose hub for classes, events, and community programming.

20% ($10,000) – Community Events & Outreach
  • Expands accessible classes, workshops, and events that bring wellness and entrepreneurship to more neighbors.

20% ($10,000) – Teachers & Facilitators
  • Provides fair pay for the educators leading yoga, pilates, mindfulness, and entrepreneurship programs.

20% ($10,000) – Nonprofit Launch & Programming
  • Supports the launch of our nonprofit and provides dedicated wellness programs for young Black and Brown women ages 16–26 who’ve experienced housing insecurity.

10% ($5,000) – Worker Co-Op Development
  • Builds a sustainable, shared-ownership model for local practitioners and entrepreneurs.

Why Your Support Matters

Your support helps more than a single business — it sustains a movement. Together, we’re preserving one of the few Black woman-owned wellness and creative spaces in NYC and ensuring it grows into something bigger:

  • A self-determined space in Bed-Stuy where people can rest, move, and create.

  • Community events and outreach that bring wellness and entrepreneurship to more neighbors.

  • Fair pay for teachers and facilitators who share their expertise with our community.

  • The launch of our nonprofit gives young Black and Brown women who’ve faced housing insecurity access to healing and leadership tools.

  • A worker co-op model, creating shared ownership and sustainability for local practitioners.

When you give, you’re not just donating — you’re investing in a model built on collaboration, care, and the belief that community spaces thrive when we build them together.

Join Us

Whether you donate $5, $500, or simply spread the word, you are part of this movement. Thank you for showing up for this space — in the past, in the present, and right now. Your support is what helps us stay rooted, grow stronger, and serve more people.

Let’s keep this space thriving — and grow The Brooklyn Wellness Club into everything we know it can be.

About the Founder

The Brooklyn Wellness Club was founded by Paris Alexandra, an artist, educator, yoga teacher, and community-builder who’s been creating intentional spaces in NYC since 2009.

From hosting poetry shows in local cafés to co-founding the country’s first Black woman-owned body-positive yoga studio, Paris has spent over a decade curating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and inspired.

She has taught yoga in public schools, led national workshops, and made history as Nike’s first global plus-size yoga athlete. In 2023, Paris launched The Brooklyn Wellness Club on Juneteenth — expanding her vision to include wellness, creativity, and entrepreneurship under one roof. She is now pursuing her MBA in Arts & Impact to deepen her leadership and scale a new model for sustainable, community-centered business in NYC.
