Miss Brooklynn moved to Washington state a couple years ago with her mom sheena and little bro Giovanni. While in Kentucky she started having headaches, normal headaches. They were not too severe. Sheena ( her mom) took her to get an eye exam and she got glasses hoping to fix the problem, when the family moved to Washington Brooklynn started having headaches again, but everyone linked it to stress and anxiety from moving and a new school. One day Sheena got a call to pick Brooklynn up at school due to a massive headache and nausea and vomiting. This time the headache was like none she'd ever had before, Sheena thought it was her glasses again so she took her to the eye doctor, Brooklynn hurt so bad she couldn't get out of the car to go into the office. Sheena took her to the pediatrician. They did a series of blood pressure checks, lab work. The doctor said to follow up in a few weeks. By the end of that week sheena found her unresponsive. Sheena took her to the closest urgent care and then she was taken by ambulance to Good Sam. They did a series of tests, spinal tap,MRI, cultures. That's when the ER doc came in and said we have found something very disturbing on her scan we are going to Airlift her to Harbourview in Seattle. They intubated her and called for the helicopter. Her 1st procedure was a shunt put into her brain to drain the extra fluid. One night in ICU there ,the following day they were transferred to Seattle's children hospital. The 2nd procedure was a cerebral embolization of the brain tumor to help reduce blood loss to prepare for surgery. This is when they found out the tumor had grown into jugular and her heart. 3rd procedure was a biopsy of the tumor that is in her neck. 4th procedure was another cerebral embolizationto once again help with blood loss. The 5th procedure was an 11 hr craniotomy (brain surgery). She received a blood transfusion as there was significant blood loss.she was intubated for several weeks following that surgery due to swallowing difficulties. A 6th procedure was needed to put in a VP shunt to drain the build up of spinal fluid in her brain. On Mar. 18th she had to have another surgery, the tumor came back in her brain the size of an egg. So she had another brain surgery (8 hrs) then 4 days later she went for another brain surgery to get the rest of the tumor. More blood transfusions, she's in ICU. In about a month she will have surgery to get the tumor in her neck. Brooklynn is one of two children my friend Sheena has, she's a single mom, works as a scrub tech. But there's no sick leave or vacation time left for her to take. I worked with sheena at madigan hospital, she is a scrub tech a great one!! She needs this job to financially take care or her and her family, but she needs the health insurance to pay part of the mounting doctor bills, if we can donate $5,$10 or whatever you're capable it would help her tremendously!! Her son Giovanni is being taking care of by friends, but the gas to get to Seattle then back down to the south sound is adding up. Meals on the go add up.
Brooklynn is a young lady who misses playing basketball, she wants to be a nurse someday hopefully at children's!! If you can please help! Please do!! To ease the financial burden I know would mean a lot!! Thank you so much!!!
