Brooklyn Back to School Drive

In the wake of recent events, I've had multiple conversations with both friends and family about the Black Lives Matter movement. In the midst of our conversation, we’ve realized that many of us did not get the opportunity to learn about the Civil Rights Movement or Black History in general because it was left out of the curriculum. It is our duty as the older generation to educate the youth about our Black History and the Civil Rights Movement. I am putting together a Back to School Supply Giveaway in Brooklyn, NY (Location to be announced). In each bag we will have Crayons, Little Legends: Exceptional Men in Black History, Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History, another book to be announced, Browndages (black owned band-aide company), spiral notebooks, pencils, and much more! In order to get this giveaway up and running we need to raise $3,000 by August 1st. 


With all of the uncertainty around the Covid-19 emergency, we do not have a location set in stone as of yet, but we plan to have that announced by mid-July. If we can not have a location due to social distancing restrictions, we will create a service where we will have families sign up and have a door to door drop off service.
