Brookland Bearcat Senior Faces Devastating Loss After Electrical Car Fire
This holiday season, let’s rally around Aydin Rutherford, a hardworking Bearcat baseball senior who’s facing an unimaginable setback. After finishing his 25–30 hour per week job Monday night, Aydin started his car to warm it up. Minutes later he returned to a non-running car, and smoke poured out when he opened the door. He managed to grab his wallet, but everything else was lost. With only liability insurance, Aydin lost his transportation to school, practice and work, along with all his catcher’s gear and baseball equipment.
Aydin works hard to help his mom, Nikki, who is the family’s only other wage earner. He’s always been dedicated to his team, his family, and his community, showing up for others whenever he can. This loss, so close to Christmas of his senior year, is heartbreaking and has left him without the means to get to school, work, or the baseball field.
