Brooke's Heart Procedure
Donation protected
My name is Elaine and my 24 year old daughter Brooke, needs a heart procedure to fix faulty heart valves and treat an electrical issue within her heart. Her heart rate will suddenly increase, soaring well over 200+ beats a minute, then it suddenly stops and her blood pressure drops to dangerously low numbers causing her to faint. This can be dangerous due to driving or traumatic injuries. She also experiences days of extreme weakness, fatigue and chest pains. On top of that, She also was recently diagnosed with lupus. She'll be having her procedure in September at Duke Hospital. Now, let me tell you some more information on my daughter. Brooke is a very passionate, caring, animal loving young lady. She loves animals so much she's dedicated her life to them by rescuing them, pet sitting, raising money for veterinary bills via fundraisers, and even went and obtained a degree in veterinary technology and applied sciences. She then became a registered veterinary technician (RVT) in NC. She currently works at an animal hospital, where they have been nothing but accommodating to her health issues, procedures and doctor appointments. She tends to speak highly of everyone there, who she says are very caring and helpful. I couldn't ask for a better place for her to work. However this job is physically demanding, can be highly stressful. But she manages to get the strength to get up, try to stay positive, go to work and try to help the animals she loves so dearly. Brooke also loves music, old Hollywood actresses, her boyfriend Michael, and German Shepherds. She lives with her pets....her German shepherd Marley, and her cats Phil, Angus, Petty, Timber and Old Gal. She also loves education, science, reading, and cooking. She lives on her own, pays her bills on time and tries to help others around her. She's determined, strong, and so sociable that we're pretty sure she's never "met a stranger"! She's funny, opinionated and can bring the happy out in anyone, if given a chance. She has goals and a head on her shoulders. She is very responsible, especially for her age, and does pay for health insurance. However, the insurance will not cover the entire procedure and with her bills, copays and prescriptions, she will not be able to save up the money for the procedure for an extended period of time. She will also need one to two weeks off work, (and even when she returns will be restricted from certain activities), and does not have the saved up time to cover her absence. This means she'd have no income one to two weeks and she has bills to pay like we all do. She also already has acquired medical bills before she could obtain insurance and we don't want her to have the extra burden of another high cost medical bill. This was very unexpected for all of us as she thought this could be controlled with medication. Sadly, the medication is not working and both her cardiologist and electrophysiologist agree that this procedure is the best, safest route to take. So I'm asking if you could help us help my daughter by donating any amount toward her procedure. The $2000 would help cover the health cost, while the $600 would help cover some of her monthly bills and make up for the lack of work during the recovery time. Any amount would be appreciated, we just can't stand to see our Brookie deal with another burden when she tries so hard to stay strong and positive through it all. She has some days where she isn't positive and feels defeated, but we're all only human. She's not perfect but she deserves a chance at a normal healthy life, not mired down in extra medical debt. Please help us give her this shot so she can return healthier to her job she so dearly loves and wants to become the best at throughout the years. Brooke wasn't aware I made this for her. I know she's going to be embarrassed and feel like it's not fair for us to ask for money. She feels like there are other people that are in worse situations that need the money more. She's trying to save but it's proving to be especially difficult between bills, saving for house and land taxes and paying for current pricy prescriptions. She will not ask for help from anyone, and if help is given to her it's offered, never asked for. One thing I can say about her for sure, is that she's a very kind, grateful person so if you do donate please leave your name because knowing her, she will want to personally thank each and every single one of you for helping her. She has been through a lot in her short time on earth and has overcome a lot when many people thought she never would, I just want one less burden for her to have to deal with, as any parent would. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and remember any amount is appreciated and if you can't donate, well wishes are equally as appreciated. God bless you all.
