When I was just two years old, a lawn mower accident changed the trajectory of my life forever. Over the following eight years, I underwent 15+surgeries, mainly cosmetic, to repair the damage caused by the accident. Now, sixteen years later, I find myself facing another daunting challenge.

Chronic pain has become an everyday battle, and despite trying various treatments, including cortisone injections, topicals and natural remedies, the relief they once provided has diminished. The only path forward is through two major surgeries. An osteotomy (that straightened my leg, which I had done in August 2024) and limb lengthening and femur rotation to my leg.

While my mobility has improved, the pain has not gone away. After many doctor visits and careful planning, I’ll be going back to NYC for another major surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery. This time, I’ll be having leg lengthening and femur rotation to help me achieve better alignment and, hopefully, lasting relief. This next surgery is crucial for restoring my quality of life. Pre op is scheduled for October 28th the surgery is scheduled for November 21st and will take place in New York City, a three-hour journey from my home.

However, undergoing these procedures comes with its own set of challenges. I will be unable to work for 4-6 months during the recovery period. This means no income to cover my everyday expenses, let alone the added financial burden of travel and accommodation expenses to and from NYC for appointments and the surgeries themselves.

This is why I'm turning to you, my community, for support.
