Brooke's Design Journey: Help Fund Her Path
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
Our 17-year-old granddaughter, Brooke, has been selected to participate in the prestigious National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC), a program that for over 35 years, has invited top student leaders from across the country to take part in a hands-on career exploration experience.
This summer, Brooke will be spending nine days at Columbia University in New York City in the fashion management and design program. Brooke says, “To be selected is a dream come true for me.” During the program, she will be building her own brand and learning directly from designers, marketers, trendsetters, and retail executives. She’ll even pitch her final product and marketing strategy to a panel of investors—just like in the real world! She is finishing her junior year with A’s in every subject (biology, math, English, photojournalism) and a B in French. She is on target to pursue a career in fashion merchandising and plans to enroll at Florida State University after high school.
We are all so excited that she has been chosen for this program, but the cost of attending the NSLC is significant. Brooke asked me to reach out to everyone that I know who might consider making any size donation to help her with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Many of you are aware of the situation with our son-in-law’s Stage 4 kidney disease and his inability to work, which creates the necessity for our GoFundMe request. Trent will be undergoing surgery for a kidney biopsy on May 20. We are asking for prayers for him. Thank you for any contribution that you can make and for your prayers for Trent.
Warmly, Laurie
