Some months ago, our friend and comrade Brooke T. received a serious cancer diagnosis, for which he recently began chemotherapy. The aggressive nature of chemo treatment, which can take months, has forced Brooke to go on leave from his various jobs and take disability.
If you know Brooke, you've probably seen him consistently step up for folks in their times of need. You probably also know he rarely asks for support for himself. Right now, however, it’s our moment to turn up for him.
While medical insurance covers a good amount of the cost of treatment, he is still left with some considerable medical expenses. Chemo ain’t cheap.
This gofundme is intended to cover the gap in medical expenses that remain after insurance has kicked in, so that Brooke's recovery from cancer won’t be further complicated with financial stress. Recovery from cancer is stressful enough! Working together, we can ease this burden for our friend.
Three things: 1) If you know Brooke and can spare the resources, donate what you can. 2) Share this link with your people via social media. Facebook, email, and texts are great, but please, *no* Twitter. 3) Tell people in real life that someone you know is battling - and will beat - cancer.
SPECIAL REQUEST: For now, please don't contact our friend via text, email or social media. Physical and emotional fatigue brought on by the chemo treatment make it difficult to interact with/respond to folks. Messages of support and encouragement via this platform are greatly appreciated.
And... in case you were wondering, this fundraiser was established by friends, comrades and colleagues of Brooke T. with his consent and permission.
