UPDATE:
3/6 Brooke is such a strong young woman and is getting better every day. She has been moved out of ICU and is no longer on strict bed rest. She works hard at PT twice daily to help with increased mobility but will most likely return home in a wheelchair at first and then move to crutches. She has to meet with the dentist because her teeth were severely damaged in the crash.
Thank you to everyone that has found it in their hearts to help Rachael and her family.
With Love,
~Alana
On 2/27, Brooke was driving home and was in a terrible car accident where she was ejected through the windshield. She has many broken bones (pelvis, tailbone, multiple breaks in her back), lacerations to her scalp requiring many stitches, as well as a grade 4 laceration to her liver and left kidney and a grade 3 laceration to her right kidney. She is in critical but stable condition.
Brooke is a fighter. She is awake, astonishingly alert, and aware of what is happening around her. But her road to recovery is going to be a long one.
When Brooke is discharged from the hospital, she will need to go to rehabilitation, and changes may have to be made to make her home safe.
I met Rachael 20 years ago, and she is one of the kindest, most giving people I have ever met. She and her family need our support. Traveling in and out of Boston, parking, missing work, medical bills, etc. will all add up quickly.
If you can help lessen the financial burden that Brookes's family will face, no one would appreciate it more than Brooke, Rachael, and her family.
Kindly,
~Alana
