Brooke Land

Hello! My name is Lauren Ridlehoover and I would like to reach out to our community in an effort to help out the family of Brooke Land. Brooke has been a classmate of my son’s since kindergarten.

Brooke was supposed to start her freshman year at Bandys on August 28th, however on August 13th at 3:38am she suffered a severe asthma attack. Luckily her parents awoke to her calling from her cellphone in her room. When they ran into her bedroom they found her gasping for breath and then she stop breathing altogether. Her mother Jessica called 911 as her father Jamie administered CPR. When the medics arrived they took over and rushed her to Levine Children’s Hospital downtown Charlotte. For 20-30 minutes Brooke’s heart had stopped beating and she was not breathing. It was while being transported to to the hospital that the medics were able to get her heart beating again. Brooke suffered a traumatic brain injury due to the lack of oxygen. She has been at Levine Children’s Hospital since being admitted on the morning of August 13th.

What Jessica and Jamie Land are going through right now is every parent’s worst nightmare. The first thing they need is our sincere prayers! We are also hoping that the community can come together and help support them through donations. When things like this happen it feels like the world stops turning. Although the Lands have not asked for help, we want to do everything we can to help take some of the burden off of them! Thank you so much!
