If you knew Brooke Douglas, even for five minutes, you understood that she was truly special. She loved hard and genuinely, spread infectious joy and laughter, and left every place better because she had been there. She was exceptional. To her family and friends’ disbelief, she unexpectedly passed away in her sleep on the morning of Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Brooke was so many things to so many people. She was an incredible wife to her husband, Andrew; a loving and caring family member to her parents and brother; a rock-steady and inspiring friend to so many lucky people; a passionate leader at her company; and a strong and faithful follower of God. The loss of Brooke leaves an inconceivable void in this world, but we can take solace that heaven has gained a genuinely remarkable angel.
She had gifts to share with the world radiating out of her spirit.
She lifted people up with ease.
She selflessly inspired people both to be better and to love themselves.
She had a way of connecting with people through their uniqueness that made them feel seen and safe.
She had an insatiable curiosity and drive. This led her to having traveled the world, earn her MBA, learn how to remodel her and Andrew's home with her bare hands and trusty power tools, and turn a traumatic childhood spinal injury into a career where she poured herself into helping patients, surgeons, and her NuVa teammates.
Perhaps her best gift was providing this world with a beacon of light and love.
Brooke lived each moment of her life with passion and purpose, and something she was utmost passionate about was the search for a cure for ALS, the degenerative disease that her father was diagnosed with. This fund will be dedicated to Brooke’s love of her father and will fund ALS research through the organization I AM ALS. Brooke had personally selected this organization to begin fundraising with, and we will carry that effort forward.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 10th in San Diego to allow as many of her friends and family to attend as possible. More details will be shared once they are confirmed.
Thank you for loving Brooke and caring for her family at this time.
