The police officer shot is a son of a retired Chicago PD officer and an amazing young man. He is a college graduate and could have gone to the corporate world, but has chosen serve- just like Dad! This episode occurred as the officer was headed home with his female companion.

The victim's brother was almost killed in a car accident a few months ago and is currently in speech and physical therapy trying to recover.
This is a very challenging time for their father, the retired CPD member, and this is going to be a challenging road for all of them in many ways. The medical bills will be significant and insurance will not necessarily cover everything.
