Bronxdale High School's 11th Grade Philly Trip!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia. I've taught 11th Grade US History at Bronxdale High School for 10 years. I love my students, my coworkers, and my school - our community cares deeply about each other, uplifts our students, celebrates joy, supports through struggle, and believes in pushing all of our students to achieve their absolute best. As a public high school in the Bronx, our school community is diverse, strong, proud, and often underfunded.

Every year, the 11th grade teacher team brings our 11th grade students to Philadelphia on a history and community-building trip. We tour the incredible Museum of the American Revolution, sample Philly cheesesteaks, and go on an Abolitionist Walking Tour of historic neighborhoods. Our students love the trip, and don't stop talking about it all year. Last year, we were able to go to Philly after a long pandemic hiatus, but NYC public school funding was drastically cut this year, and without outside funds, we won't be able to go this fall.

Please support us in helping to bring the Class of 2025 to Philly this spring so that they experience learning outside the classroom and build community together! No donation is too small, and every donation makes a real difference in my students' lives.

Proposed Budget:
  • ~1,000: Cost of Museum Guided Tours for 100 students + staff <--- Generously funded by the museum
  • ~5,000: Two 55-person coach buses to Philly round trip

**NOTE: I am organizing this fundraiser as a personal initiative, and not in my capacity as an official employee of Bronxdale High School or the NYC Department of Education.**
