I have a Maltese-Shihtzu that is a year and a half years old. Since January, I’ve spent over 4,000 dollars on vet care for him. He collapsed on the third and they suspected that he was suffering from anaphylactic shock from something that stung him outside. I worked for four hours last night and I got back and Bronx had thrown up all over his cage, he was covered in it and shaking and crying. I bathed him and wrapped him in a towel to calm him down but decided to see how he was this morning. I woke up this morning and he had bled all over the place. I rushed him back to the emergency vet and his liver levels were still highly elevated and the vomiting and bloody diarrhea were inconsistent with anaphylaxis so they’re now suspecting that something might be severely wrong with his liver. I have to leave him over at the vet again tonight and have them give him an ultrasound. This visit in itself is going to cost over a grand and if something is wrong with his liver, I might have to pay for surgery. I’m in college and I just can’t afford to continuously pay for his high vet bills but my puppy is really important to me and I just want him to be okay.
