Hello! My name is Bronco and I’m an adorable long haired chihuahua, weighing in at just 4lbs at the age of 1. I used to be playful (without a worry of pain and health threats) with my 2 chihuahua siblings (Bambi and Boomer.) I was able to jump on the bed/couch, go to the bathroom on my own, play and be loved by my humans without being in pain. Now my back legs can barely hold me up and I cry/welp when I feel the pain in my head. I am now on so many medicines it makes me tired and have itchy ears/head. Two weeks ago, I unfortunately was diagnosed with Chiari malformation/ syringomyelia. This means a malformation or deformity where the brain is larger than the skull, such as chiari-like malformation (CM). Typically, the brain of Chihuahuas suffering from CM will push up against the narrow cavity of the spinal column, resulting in a natural blockage. Chiari-like Malformation alters the flow of cerebrospinal fluid between the skull and spinal column resulting in a collection of fluid pockets within the spinal cord. My mom is a student who is graduating from college and currently doesn't have a job. I have to get a CT scan, spinal tap, another MRI, and surgery. Any contribution helps and greatly appreciated for the procedures I need. From the bottom of my heart this means the world to me and my family.
