Brolly’s visiting place
"Hi, I am Brolly Sherwood, I am 14 years old and have two younger brothers. My mom "Laci
Sherwood" was a wonderful and amazing woman but lost her life at the young age of 38. Being the amazing woman she was, I feel that she
deserves a proper headstone. Sadly, my family could not afford one so I took it upon myself to earn money. Luckily my amazing teachers
stepped in and decided to give me a hand. I
cannot thank them enough. I am not asking
for everything you have. Even the littlest bit
helps. I thank every one of you that donates
to help me pay for a headstone. I also thank
those of you that just took time out of your
day to read this."
Nothing compares to the love you have for
your mom. The woman who wipes your tears, bandages your elbows when you wreck your
skateboard, laughs with you and loves you
unconditionally but still holds you accountable so you grow into the man she dreams you to
be. Now, imagine suddenly and tragically
losing her at the young age of 13.
Heartbroken, you try to pick up the pieces and care for your two younger brothers during the the worst time of your life.
With time and support, you begin to heal and push forward yet still feel the tremendous
loss. You miss your mom daily and ache to tell her of your triumphs and failures. You wish
you could visit her but after she passed, your
family couldn't afford a final resting place and so you wait.
Nearly a year has passed and still no memorial. No headstone. No where to visit. You decide you will do it on your own. You will make it
happen like so many other things you have made happen. You will find a job, you will earn
the money. You will buy her a headstone. You know it will be hard. You know it will take
time. You are determined.
Brolly is an amazing young man. He is selfless, caring, smart, hilarious, charming,
hardworking and resilient. After losing his
mom, he and his two brothers went into the care of his aunt and uncle.
After grading a goal setting assignment,
Brolly's teacher came to me wondering what
can be done to help him. You, see this is when we learned Brolly was determined to earn
money to purchase a headstone/memorial for his mom. Knowing Brolly the way we do, we
know he will endure the hard work and time it takes to earn the money. However, he has
gone through so much in his young life we
want to help. We want something to just be
easy for him after all the loss he has endured. We want to help.
Brolly's goal is to earn $1800 to cover the cost of a small granite headstone for the burial of
his mom's ashes at Cloverdale Funeral Home
and Terrace Memorial Gardens.
Any additional funds raised will be donated to a local suicide prevention program, per Brolly's request. In the event the goal is not reached, a benefit carwash will occur on June 5th, 2021 at Victory Middle School.
Our gratitude to your consideration for
donating to this cause is unmeasurable. Thank you with all of our hearts.
