Broken pipes & told to leave with no home.
Donation protected
Hi friends,
I left the house, feeling frozen, with a few t shirts in a tote bag and my meds.
During the freak Arctic cold front that went through Upstate NY this past weekend, temperatures at my house fell well below zero with windchills of -26.
I’m disabled and live alone. I was faced that night with losing part of my electricity and all of my heat. I slept in the house that was only 33 degrees on the thermostat. After several calls to National Grid and the Scotia FD, I was told to leave. With the main valve and the furnace frozen they said the main valve would break. I was unable to find anyone who could help for days ahead.
It was too late and futile. The pipes broke. The town tagged the house as unlivable and I am, with very little help, homeless.
I do not qualify for emergency housing. I have been told by family to find somewhere else to live.
With great advice from good friends, I’m looking into my options but right now I’m living in a hotel until my savings soon run out.
Please friends… I’m a proud person. I rarely ask for help. Any amount that you can donate is greatly appreciated. It will help me get through until I can figure out what my next move will be and whether I have a place to call home.
PLEASE SHARE THIS SO OTHERS WHO MAY NOT FOLLOW ME WILL SEE THIS APPEAL. Thank you for caring.
