Broken Leg, Big Heart, Bigger Ears: Help Pancake Run Again!
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Courtney and my sister and I rescued this puppy guy on May 2nd with a broken leg, starved, and dehydrated. After doing X-rays, his growth plates estimate his age to be about 6 months old, and his attitude and personality confirm it. He’s so full of love and happiness. On 5/2, he weighed 39 lbs, skin and bones, and was so weak he couldn’t even stand on his own to go to the bathroom. Now, almost 2 weeks later, he is 45 lbs and wants to run like he remembers he can!
We got him seen and his leg splinted on 5/2 by my vet, and rechecked 7 days later. Unfortunately, it looks like his tibia may not be healing correctly due to him being an active puppy and wanting to jump. He’s also a big boy and full of energy, so even with strict crate rest, he might need a fracture repair surgery to save him from lifelong leg issues. We have another recheck on Monday, 5/19, but the estimate for the surgery is above our means of what we can afford to pay for him. Rescues in our area are full, so we’re hoping to raise donations to help him get the medical care he needs so we can find him his forever family. All funds will go directly to the fracture repair surgery costs.
Currently, he goes by Pancake or Cakey boy, and anything truly helps. We’re taking care of his other vet bills and needs like deworming, fleas, ears, and wound care he had from what looks like a fight before we found him. Just want to give this sassy man the best chance we can.
