Hey Sisters and Misters!
I am currently completing the final year of my nursing degree and a rewarding opportunity has come my way!
Broken Hill Hospital, located in the Far West Local Health district of NSW, offers a great initiative for students to get involved and work in rural and remote settings. They work closely with universities to select a handful of eager students to get out of their comfort zone and make a difference whilst learning new skills.
The course of my degree has uncovered my passion for working in the community with individuals. I have an interest and keen desire to help those that are vulnerable and make their safe space (their homes) as comfortable as possible. Broken Hill is a perfect example of where this passion held by health care workers is needed most. I will be exposed to working with The Royal Flying Doctors, Air Ambulance as well as working alongside our Indigenous community in a rural and remote setting.
I have worked really hard to apply for this opportunity and being granted a position has not only been encouraging, but a great highlight to my final year of Nursing!
As well as donating my time, we are required to fund our travel, accommodation and living expenses there and the ones here at home too whilst away. I am reaching out to all my family and friends (and friends I haven't met yet) who might be able to throw a few $$$ my way for a good cause!
