Thank you go all who have donated in the first 24 hours. I just got off the phone with Jamey and he is very grateful for the help.
He maxed out his credit card to pay for Tank's cremation, which will happen on Friday. He says 48 hours is required before a cremation is allowed in Florida, so he is staying in Key West till he can take the ashes back to North Port with him.
"It's a money making racket," he told me as he lamented the cost of the cremation, death certificate and other miscellaneous expenses he's dealing with in addition to his profound grief.

James 'Tank' Gowan , 38, lost his long battle with congestive heart disease on February 12, 2019 while on a road trip to Key West with his beloved father Jamey 'Pops' Gowan and his nephews, Aiden and David.
'Pops' of Highlands, NJ was visiting 'Tank' at is home in North Port, Fl, taking him to doctors appointments, when they decided to take the road trip with the boys.
Devastated, Jamey is now in Key West with his grandsons confronting how to get his son's remains back home to North Port.
The family has decided to have Tank cremated in Key West after his mother, Mary Kay, arrives to say good-bye, and then return to North Port for a funeral/memorial.
The Gowans have an immediate need of support to cover the cost of cremation, a couple of more days lodging in Key West, and the funeral expenses in North Port.
Additionally, Tank left significant medical bills, some of which are still coming in.
Tank's step-mom, Kerry, Jamey's wife, be distributing your donations and making sure the expenses are covered.
