COVID-19 has sent shockwaves throughout the Bay Area community and beyond. Many families suffered losses. Some lost employment and thousands lost loved ones; not all the deaths were due to COVID-19.

Gun violence is up more than 25% in communities throughout the Bay Area; Mass shootings are at record-breaking highs. We must band together to support communities that were struggling before COVID-19. Families like those Broken By Violence support, people who have lost a loved one to violence and are still healing from their loss. We also want to focus on creating pathways for our youth impacted by violence.

Broken By Violence provides youth in marginalized communities opportunities to further their education with experiences, such as college tours, internships, and mentorship programs. We believe creating pathways to success is the only way to break the cycle of violence. We believe in giving back to an underserved community.

Through tax-deductible donations from community members. Broken By Violence can support our youth with pathways to success.
We need your support, please donate to help cover transportation and food for a group of 20 high school students to attend college tours and workshops.

Since being founded in 2017 Broken By Violence, has grown to become one of the few organizations in Solano County that provides free healing spaces for grieving families. We are located in the Solano Family Justice Center, we primarily work with low-income families and almost all come from communities of color - specifically black and Latinx communities who are disproportionately affected by crime.
We provide emotional support, referrals, and direct services to victims of crime, we believe in giving back to the underserved communities.

The toxic stress and trauma endured by these communities have long-term negative effects on mental and physical well-being. In particular, youth exposure to community violence have ramifications that resonate into adulthood. Research has repeatedly shown that adverse childhood experiences are powerful predictors of an individual’s outcomes in later life, including impacts on neurological development, the loss of a sense of physical security increases the susceptibility to disease, and mental illness. Life in high-crime communities brings with it psychological symptoms that can be expressed externally, such as violence and aggression, and internally, such as anxiety and depression.

Broken by Violence is devoted to providing much-needed support for students in underserved communities. With your help, we will create a brighter future

Avian Rojas, Broken By Violence's  High School Intern shares why he volunteered to create this experience for his peers,  "as I enter my senior year in High School, I have never been on a college tour,  with college applications being due in the next few months, I believe it is essential that my fellow students and I  are exposed to every opportunity available to us." With your donation, I will be able to create a college tour day trip for a group of 20 students to visit UC Davis and Sacramento State.

This is how we break the cycle of violence by creating pathways to success.
