A Journey Shaped by Resilience

My name is Rachel, and my journey has been anything but ordinary. I grew up in a world where love and safety were absent. My childhood was marked by instability, neglect, and heartbreak. By the time I was eight, my mother had stopped acknowledging my existence, and my father—cruel and unyielding—offered nothing but hardship. When the state intervened, I was placed in foster care, separated from the family that should have protected me. Despite having a large, close-knit extended family, no one came to my rescue.

For 24 years, I was completely alone. No calls. No letters. No support. The weight of abandonment and unworthiness followed me into adulthood. I battled CPTSD, anxiety, and depression, haunted by the ghosts of my past. But I refused to let my past define me.

At 34, I took my first steps toward healing, throwing myself into therapy, coaching, and every form of personal growth I could find. But healing doesn’t happen overnight. Years passed, money ran out, and despite all my efforts, I still felt trapped in my trauma. That’s when I made a bold decision: I was going to reclaim my life.

The Leap of Faith: Backpacking Through South America

On January 16, 2023, I booked a one-way ticket to Ecuador. What started as a 10-week trip turned into a 26-month odyssey across Ecuador and Peru. I immersed myself in yoga, meditation, breathwork, and plant medicine ceremonies—tools I had never explored before. I walked through the Amazon, sat in sacred ceremonies, and trained in advanced yoga techniques. Each experience chipped away at the pain I had carried for so long.

Most importantly, I started writing.

The Book That Will Change Lives

Writing became my anchor, my therapy, and my purpose. With every page, I transformed my pain into something tangible—something that could help others who have felt lost, abandoned, or broken by their past. My book, Saving Me from Myself, is now 182 pages long and growing. It is a raw, honest, and deeply personal account of what it takes to rebuild yourself from the ground up.

This book is not just my story—it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It’s for anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t belong, anyone who has struggled with trauma, and anyone searching for hope.
